Terence, a father of seven, was already in steady employment but due to a change in family commitments, found he needed to find more flexible work.
Living with an intellectual disability, Terence registered with atWork Australia’s Townsville office, looking for assistance with finding good work that could fit his new circumstances.
Terence met with Job Coach, Matt, and they talked about his previous experience, plus what Terence was looking for in the future.
After explaining the changes with his family commitments, Matt immediately set about working together with Terence to find meaningful work and an understanding employer.
Terence reworked his resume, took part in interview coaching, and set about updating his interview outfit, all supported by Matt and the team of atWork Australia.
Terence continued to actively attend appointments, working on his interview skills while Matt worked to find Terence the right job for him. Matt found a local Facility Management Services company, who were looking for people to work in a local shopping centre.
Focussing on cleaning, maintenance, and security across Australia and New Zealand, it was an area Terence had been hoping to find sustainable employment. Terence was excited to be offered the position and was immediately employed at a local large shopping centre.
