Benjamin has recently moved to Australia from the Philippines. After moving around Australia several times, he landed in Warrawong, New South Wales, with his family.
Upon entering the atWork Australia office in Warrawong as a Workforce Australia client, he was met with his Job Coach, Emma.
Benjamin outlined that he was looking for a full-time position that allowed him to financially support his children and elderly mother, as this was the very reason he moved to Australia several years ago.
With a passion for the construction industry, Benjamin was determined to find a role for him in the industry.
With English not being Benjamin’s first language and not having many years of industry experience, he found it difficult to find a role on his own. He was looking forward to gaining some professional assistance on this journey.
Together, Emma and Benjamin worked on perfecting a resume and cover letter to appeal to potential employers. They also worked on interview skills and how Benjamin can put his best foot forward.
Emma found several suitable positions within the industry, but one position in particular stood out to Benjamin – a role at a local pipe manufacturer. Emma put him forward for this position. The employer was impressed by Benjamin and asked him to come into the office for an interview.
With great success, Benjamin was offered the position as a full-time forklift operator after only four-weeks with our services.
In preparation to start work, atWork Australia provided him with a brand-new work shirt.
Benjamin has now been in this role for eight-weeks and now works closely with our InWork Support team to ensure that he has the support, if he needs it.
