Good news from atWork Australia.

From Punchbowl, NSW, Barbara was long-term unemployed and lacked confidence. However, she was connected with her Job Coach, Zubda, who helped her focus on the future and achieve her goals.

Zubda referred Barbara to Powered by Positivum; a group training program designed to develop practical and powerful work readiness skills through improved wellbeing and industry specific skills training. This allowed Barbara to connect with new people; the course facilitator encouraged Barbara to engage with the group discussion, as well as assisted her with employment preparation.

Barbara gradually built her confidence and made contributions to the group brainstorming sessions. After attending the sessions, Barbara started to care more about herself and realised that she could have many options for her future.

Zubda said, “The program gave Barbara an opportunity to uncover her strengths and face challenges with a positive mindset in the future”.

Powered by Positivum enabled Barbara to build the foundational skills to engage in the workforce; helping with interview questions and her confidence. The program enhanced her progression towards education and work goals, as well as goal setting and resume writing.

Building a relationship with Zubda has been fundamental in her progress. Zubda has supported Barbara with different activities; she has a good understanding of how to meet her monthly PBAS targets.

Zubda, encourages Barbara to engage with different activities, choose courses that best reflect what she would like to achieve in the future, match what she does each day, the choices she makes to her values, and finding stepping stones that will help lead to a larger goal.

By participating in different activities, Barbara has built self-belief, changed a negative pattern of thinking and has made some really positive impacts to her mental and physical health.

By assisting Barbara stay active, as well as find routine and structure, she has better financial security and a sense of purpose.

Barbara has improved her computer skills and will use the information and skills she learnt during the programs to help conduct effective job searches, submit applications online and tailor her resume.

Barbara has completed three accredited units of Community Service and will open her scope of job hunting to include customer service and retail.
