After spending the past six years out of the workforce caring for his mother, Workforce Australia client, Frank, was looking to make some bold moves to get back to where he used to be. For assistance on this journey, he worked with atWork Australia Job Coach, Charlotte, in the Midland, Western Australia, office.
After getting to know Frank’s goals, previous work history, and skills, a tailored roadmap to employment was created. This plan included finding a supportive employer that would be understanding of his learning disability.
As a new client of the Workforce Australia system, Charlotte instructed him on how to meet his PBAS targets and submit job searches. Charlotte mentioned if he was faced with any difficulties, he would be able to attend the office at any time. He was thankful for all the support he was shown.
After several discussions on sustainable employment and positions of interest, Frank mentioned that he would enjoy returning to his previous position.
Charlotte states, “We assisted Frank in getting a new traffic controller ticket after expressing he would like to return to his old position.”
Not only did he want to return to this position, but he also expressed an interest in returning to his previous employer too.
In preparation to contact his previous employer, the pair worked on polishing his resume and cover letter to impress. The employer was delighted to hear that he would love to re-join, so much so that he was invited in for an interview almost immediately. Frank was overjoyed.
“I am so excited to be back at work.”
