Good news from atWork Australia

Workforce Australia client, Matthew, 53, first attended atWork Australia, Cronulla, with the goal of building resilience and a positive mindset. Matthew had a goal of finding employment and was eager and motivated to improve his personal situation.

Matthew had been unemployed for a few years and after working on a tailored job plan with his Job Coach, Maria, he was enrolled into the Jobs for the Mob program. The program supports Indigenous clients with the foundational skills required to enter the workforce through activities such as, goal setting, resume writing and financial planning.

Matthew lacked the experience and confidence for some of the basics of job searching, such as answering interview questions, thus, the program was the perfect place to start. He was supported by his Job Coach and the course facilitator, and the program enhanced his progressions towards home, education and work goals, as well as financial planning.

Additionally, in order to complete the Jobs for the Mob program, Matthew built his self-belief and changed his negative pattern of thinking into a positive pattern. He now realises the positive impact employment has on physical and mental health. Not to mention, routine, structure, community, purpose and financial security.

Matthew engaged well with the programs and activities that were offered to him. Maria encouraged Matthew to identify his own personal values and set stepping-stones that would lead to larger goals. She also helped him manage setbacks and identify his self-worth.

Matthew enjoyed the flexibility of the Points Based Activation System that allowed him to participate in a variety of activities that contributed to meeting his monthly target. In particular, Matthew attended Wellness sessions to support his health and wellbeing.

With Maria’s support, Matthew has built basic computer skills; he is very confident to break down the elements and requirements of a job advertisement, as well as answer the commonly asked interview questions.

Matthew said, “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams. If you want to be happy, do not dwell in the past, do not worry about the future, focus on living fully in the present.”

Every year, atWork Australia help thousands of clients, like Matthew, expand their skills and qualifications to help them gain the right job with the right employer. Call us today on 1300 080 856 or enquire online to find out how we can help you meet your career goals.
