When Nathan came to atWork Australia, he had a great work history. For the majority of Nathan’s working life, he was a truck driver and held multiple tickets and qualifications. Unfortunately, as a result of a truck accident, Nathan has lost his driver’s license and can no longer work in his preferred industry.
After Nathan’s accident, which has left him traumatized, he now faces challenges with his mental health, grief and self-esteem as a result. Driving trucks was a big part of Nathan’s life for many years and not being able to return to his profession has further impacted on his mental health. Nathan decided it was time to reach out for support to find employment, that’s when he came to atWork Australia’s Workforce Australia office in Warrawong, NSW. Nathan was introduced to his Job Coach, Jacq, who immediately started searching for suitable employment opportunities for Nathan. Jacq could see that Nathan had a great work history and that he was eager to return to work.
As the pair got to know each other, Nathan shared some of his hobbies. Nathan said that he enjoyed building things, such as drones, he was good with IT and that he had previously completed a commercial diving ticket. The universe must have been listening to their conversation, as Jacq soon come across the perfect job for Nathan, a Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) Pilot for a diving company. Nathan and his Job Coach, Jacq, quickly reached out to the employer to arrange an interview on the spot.
Nathan was absolutely thrilled to learn that he had secured the position. atWork Australia were able to support Nathan to enroll in a confined space and working at heights course that he would require to start his new job. Nathan said, “I am loving going to work every day doing something I am passionate about. It does not feel like work to me.” Nathans Job Coach, Jacq, said, “Nathan came to atWork Australia a broken and down man; he is now loving going to work every day. He now has a fulltime job with opportunities for career growth.”
This is a fantastic outcome for Nathan, he has found a job he is truly passionate about. Nathan is thriving in his new role and has quickly moved up into a supervisor’s position.
