atWork Australia’s NDIS Services are
transitioning to Ability Action Australia

As a national employment services provider, atWork Australia supports Australians living with disability and disadvantage to experience the many benefits of employment. More recently, our services have expanded to include the provision of psychology, Positive Behaviour Support and employment support for participants of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).

Together with our parent company, MedHealth, we believe our NDIS clients will be better supported by combining our services with our sister company, Ability Action Australia, which is a dedicated provider of NDIS therapeutic supports for people with significant and permanent disability.

As a result, we have made the decision to bring all NDIS services together under one roof that is 100% dedicated to supporting NDIS participants.

What does this mean for you?

All atWork Australia’s NDIS services and team will transition to Ability Action Australia by the end of August 2021. This includes:

Positive Behaviour Support

Psychology

School Leaver Employment Support

Employment-related Assessment and Counselling

We are doing all we can to ensure this is a smooth transition. You will continue to see the same team member and all the details of your current arrangements will remain in place. This included your appointments and funding, which will not be affected in any way.

Our colleagues at Ability Action Australia are excited to welcome you and partner with you to achieve a meaningful and positive life. Through Ability Action Australia, you will be able to access a range of NDIS therapeutic services from their national network of mobile clinicians, including Occupational Therapy, Exercise Physiology, and Physiotherapy.

atWork Australia and Ability Action Australia are both part of the MedHealth group of companies. They share a common vision of delivering services to NDIS participants that ensure they get the support they need to reach their goals and get more out of life today. To provide a better, more efficient service to participants, MedHealth has made the decision to bring all NDIS clinical services and NDIS employment services together under one roof.

This will enable our team to provide a better, more comprehensive experience to our clients, who will now be able to access multiple services from a single provider.

This transition will not have a big impact on your service. You will continue to see the same team member and all the details of your current arrangements will remain in place. Appointments and funding will not be affected, although any documentation and invoicing will now have the Ability Action Australia name and logo appear on them. We will complete new service agreements for you under the Ability Action Australia name if you are happy for us to do so.

No. Team members providing current supports will remain the same. The only difference is the company name changing, everything else stays the same.

Yes. As we are transitioning to Ability Action Australia, we will not be using atWork Australia office locations to provide supports to clients. Ability Action Australia is predominately a mobile service, with clinicians providing services to clients at their own home. They also have clinics located in each state and some services are provided by telehealth.

All existing clients will complete a new service agreement under the Ability Action Australia name.

No. Invoicing will remain the same but will now have the Ability Action Australia name on them.

All referrals and enquiries are directed to the Ability Action Australia Concierge team. Concierge is a dedicated customer service arm – they will be able to answer any questions and provide a consistent high level of service to participates and stakeholders.

New referrals can be made directly through a dedicated online referral form, which includes all atWork Australia’s NDIS services.

No. Ability Action Australia deliver NDIS supports to participants with current NDIS funding.

If a client does not have a current NDIS plan but may be eligible, here is some information to get them started.

To find out if you are eligible for NDIS funding, the first step is answering the following questions:

  • Are you permanently disabled or require early intervention to reduce the support you will need in the future?
  • Are you under 65 years old?
  • Are you living in Australia?
  • Are you an Australian citizen or permanent resident?

If you answered yes to all of the above, you may be eligible for NDIS funding. You can read more eligibility criteria information here.

To apply for NDIS funding, you can directly contact the NDIS by calling 1800 800 110. Alternatively, you can complete an Access Request Form located on the NDIS website. Once the NDIS has reviewed your application, they will let you know if your funding has been approved.
