21-year-old, Spencer, had never worked in a full-time role. He had been unemployed since he was 18 years old but was now ready to enter the workforce.
He met Job Coach, Sean, at the atWork Australia Modbury, SA office as a Workforce Australia client.
It took a while for Spencer to warm up to Sean but once he did, he was able to progress quickly into his first full-time role.
“When I first met Spencer, I could see he had some barriers to employment but could immediately tell he was ready and wanted to find work,” said Sean.
“Initially he was reluctant to engage at appointments but after we got to know each other, he started to open up and discussed what he wanted to achieve.”
Job Coach, Sean, referred Spencer into our Wellness Services to focus on his mental health and wellbeing so, in turn, he could focus on his employment journey.
After two months with atWork Australia, Spencer landed a role as a full-time pizza delivery driver.
Spencer was placed with a supportive employer who atWork Australia has been partnered with for over a year.
Munno Parra Pizza Hut owner, Dipesh, is a very respectful and patient employer. He works hard towards training clients until they are confident in their role.
Spencer is now thriving in the role having been trained and supported by Dipesh to learn all the skills required.
“I’m really happy to be getting into a routine instead of sitting at home doing nothing,” said Spencer.
“When we place the right people with the right business, we see both thriving. It’s wonderful to see Spencer enjoying his first role and we look forward to seeing what the future holds for him,” said Sean.
