At the time of entering the atWork Australia office in Clare, South Australia, 54-year-old, Steven, had been unemployed for several weeks and was seeking assistance in finding the perfect position for himself.
Within his first appointment with his Job Coach, Anika, he shared his past, barriers to employment, as well as his goals. From this information, Anika was able to create a tailored job plan with the goal of re-entering the workforce after being released from prison.
Steven also expressed his current mental health, financial circumstances, insomnia and caring responsibilities. These elements would play a large factor in finding suitable, sustainable employment that works for him.
Within their conversations, Steven expressed an interest in truck driving. But with no current driver’s licence, this was going to be impossible. Or so he thought. To kick start this journey, atWork Australia were able to support him in obtaining this.

Steven’s eagerness and excitement to re-enter the workforce shortly paid off when he was offered a full-time position as a truck driver with a local construction company after securing his driver’s licence.
